Gadget Builder allows you to create gadgets for Windows Vista sidebar in a matter of minutes.

You can create fully branded gadgets and start to distribute it. By providing you users with useful gadgets you can:

• Increase your brand awareness
• Increase traffic with repeating visits
• Send your news right to users desktop

Basics

Gadget Builder includes gadget templates. Gadget template is a code of gadget prepared for customization. When you start Gadget Builder you can choose one of the gadget templates.

Creating gadget. Step 1.

Start Gadget Builder. Choose one of the templates included. When you choose template you'll be asked for options of this template.

Each template has its own options. Common options are:

Name. It's the name of your gadget. For example: BBC News gadget.
Author. Type here your name or your company name.
Website. Put here a link to your site incl. http://
Version. It's the version of your gadget. Keep it updated.
Default RSS Feed. This is URL of your RSS feed. The advantage of GadgetBuilder is that you can put your RSS feed in each gadget. This allows you to send your news right to this gadget while user using it.

For example: You can build Clock gadget. User will happily use this gadget. You included RSS feed to this gadget. Now if you'll get something to say to your users you need to update your RSS feed. All gadgets will get this feed and show you news to user. Include a link to your site in your news, so users can click and open your web-site.

Each gadget has common and specific options.

Fill the options and move forward to step 2.

On this step you can change the default graphics in gadget. You can fully change the look of the gadget.

Click on image you want to change. Choose your own image you want to replace with.

When you finish click on Next to proceed to step 3.

Gadget space is divided into 4 placeholders. Placeholder is a place where you can put your own image or text.

Choose a placeholder. Choose what you want to put here: image or text. Specify do you want to assign a link to this image or text.

When finish click Next to move forward to final step.

It's all simple here. Select what you want to do with created gadget.

• Save it as a gadget.
• Or save it and install to sidebar (available only on Vista)
